WHAT DOES THIS PARTNERSHIP MEANS?
People from congregations of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, which have a partnership with another congregation, come together to share, discuss, celebrate, have worship and workshops, sing and listen to the Bible and to each other.
A vital part of the partnership are also the Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague, which are already having a long partnership with each other. A part of this partnership is also the Diakonia of the ECCB, which is serving various groups of people like seniors and people with a handicap throughout the Czech Republic.
This partnership is also open for other denominations like the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Church of Scotland and the United Reformed Church the United Kingdom. And there might be others, which are not mentioned here.
This year it will be the 5th. Partnership conference of this kind. The last one took place in the year 2019 at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia
WHO SHOULD COME?
- Members of Partnership Congregations and institutions in the PC (USA) and in the Czech Republic.
- Also guests from the Church of Scotland and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
- People from congregations or church institutions, which are interested in a partnership.
- Youth beginning at age 15 from all mentioned groups or anyone who is interested.
WHAT IS THE AGENDA OF THE CONFERENCE DAY?
Every day will be started with a morning devotion followed by the theme of the day and discussions. There will be a common lunch and the program will continue in smaller groups with a variety of workshops, trips and tourist attractions. You may look forward to many coffee breaks with networking. The end of the day will be closed by evening devotion and dinner.
WHAT LANGUAGE WILL WE USE?
Since there will be many guests not only from the USA the common language throughout the conference will be of course English. All programs and workshops will be held by English speaking lecturers. For those who are not sure with their skills, do not be shy! There is always a way to help.
HOW TO GET TO OLOMOUC?
The best connection to Olomouc is via Prague or Vienna. If you cannot fly to one of those airports there is a document with tips and tricks (ODKAZ). It would be great if we could welcome you in Olomouc until the late afternoon on Sunday.
WHERE ARE WE GOING TO STAY?
There are 3 options to choose from in the registration form:
HOTEL - we have booked for you a few hotel double rooms. If you are travelling by yourself and you wish to share the room with someone, feel free to let us know in the form.
STUDENT DORMITORY - this is an option mostly for younger participants. Shared room of three, shared restrooms but still comfortable.
HOST FAMILIES - a wonderful opportunity to join a true experience of international partnership and build new relationships.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME?
International guests - the participation fee is 500 USD
Czech guests - with support of ECCB the participation fee is 3500 CZK (cost will probably be adjusted for youth and will possibly be lower). Included are meals, transportation within the city, accommodation.
